ABOUT THE TASK FORCE
Overview
The South Florida Human Trafficking Task Force (SFHTTF) is federally funded by the Department of Justice Office for Victims of Crime and the Bureau of Justice Assistance through the enhanced collaborative partnership between Miami-Dade Police Department and International Rescue Committee. It works in partnership with the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Miami. The SFHTTF is currently composed of over 400 members from various sectors in the Tri-County area.

The SFHTTF utilizes all of its authorities and resources in a cohesive global enforcement response in order to dismantle the global criminal infrastructure engaged in human trafficking. The SFHTTF has developed a comprehensive strategy to combat these criminal organizations through coordination with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and law enforcement within South Florida in order to identify and provide services to trafficking victims, and coordinate investigations. The SFHTTF uses a victim-centered, trauma-informed approach mandated by law in which the identification, rescue, and needs of victims have equal importance to the apprehension and prosecution of traffickers.
